"why do you worry about that?"

we'll just trade poems instead.
can't help but deal with this later,
it fucks with your head.
it makes everyone else look okay,
living, blind, to the fullest,
they don't wake up and say
"where, oh where will my thoughts
run today? will I be living in nowhere
with no one to say 'hey I thought of you
and it made me smile' instead of
'I hope he don't call here,
it's been quite a while.'"
and I see me visiting you
and all of your friends-
formerly ours.
And under your breath,
"it's so hard to see him like this,
he should never have left."
I'm quickly reminded why
being unconscious
is so god damn pleasant.
fuck being honest.

I can tell you are lost;
it doesn't make sense
to feel like this
with nobody gone yet.
it's awfully selfish of me
not to notice that good,
people are trying their hardest
to have me not write
such god-awful songs about
when they all die or
when the songs all get old.
or when they all grow tired
of me.
and I'll be left with no one
to sing to.
because who's looking forward
to that?
I'd hate to know I'd done that
to you.

I'll find something better to do.
